Soulajule Dam is the

Right Size Right Now

Soulajule does not need to be expanded to function as an important piece of the MMWD resilient water supply portfolio.

Expanded or not, Soulajule is only useful in drought years if it has an electrified pump station and if it can be filled with water conveyed from elsewhere.

We support the following actions which will allow MMWD to fulfill their promise to customers to increase the reliable water supply in event of extended drought. This series of incremental improvements, utilizing a combination of annually budgeted and debt-financed improvements, will exceed the projected need target for many years.

• Adoption of non-regulatory water conservation efforts to reduce demand will add 4,000 AFY (Acre Feet per Year)

• Proceed with the “work in progress” projects (includes electrification of Soulajule pump station), adding from 4,000 to 6,000 AFY

• Maximize existing Sonoma-Marin facilities adding 4,000 AFY

• Install new conveyance facility adding from 4,000 to 8,140 AFY

Raising Kent and Alpine Reservoir spillways will add from 2,000 to 5,000 AFY (estimated)

These actions combined will add a total of 18,000 -27,000 AFY to Marin’s water supply*
